Presentation: Tips on the Psychology of Effective Decision Making
Most of us make hundreds of decisions per day—everything from major decisions down to choices so small that we don't even notice making them. During this presentation, Plous will discuss the latest research findings on how to make effective decisions. Studies in psychology suggest that decision makers generally perform well but are prone to certain biases and errors, many of which can be reduced with practice once decision makers are made aware of them.
Plous is author of The Psychology of Judgment and Decision Making and serves as founding executive director of Social Psychology Network, an international educational organization with more than 2,000 members worldwide. Plous has received several research and teaching awards, including the American Psychological Foundation’s Distinguished Teaching Award, the Gordon Allport Intergroup Relations Prize, and the "Connecticut Professor of the Year" award by the Carnegie Foundation and Council for Advancement and Support of Education.
