NIH Launches Multidisciplinary Network on Health Disparities
The Office of Behavioral and Social Sciences at NIH is contracting with the University of Michigan’s School of Public Health to establish a Network on Inequality, Complexity, and Health (NICH).
The network will new approaches to understanding the origins of health disparities or differences in the burden of disease. Scientists from numerous disciplines will participate, including sociology, economics, biology, ecology, computer science, education, mathematics, and epidemiology. The network will use state-of-the-science conceptual and computational models “to identify important areas where interventions or policy changes could have the greatest impact.”
